Mid July
Molovos, Lesvos, Greece

Dear Friends,
We would like to update you on our Eftalou building project. This year we have had a great lesson in patience and some surprising insights into the deeper layers of both our land and the Greek society of 2002!
Due to the heavy winter rains the digging of the foundations for our building could only take place in May. All went well until it was almost completed. There is a strict law here right now that demands the presence of an archeologist for any type of digging whatsoever… even for the replanting of a tree.
Some pottery shards started to appear and then the remnants of an ancient wall and then a beautiful coin from about 400 BC. The coin was most rare (with Romulus and Remus suckling from their wolf mother on one side and a beautiful woman on the other). It will reside in the museum of Mitilene with our names somewhere attached, since it was found on our land. All good news for the archeologists, but less than good for us! Excavations have continued revealing remnants of simple dwellings, probably Roman period of about 400 BC, but no one is certain yet. In order to speed up the process we have to pay for the four diggers (about $1400 a week including social security). Otherwise we must wait our turn and that could be a few years!
Our hope and prayers are that not much more of interest will be found and that soon we shall be allowed to continue the building. Our students for the Molivos II course joined us on two occasions to ask permission from the spirits of the land to enable us to create our center there and to make a firm and positive connection with the valley, the trees and the earth. Many people came with sheep bells to ring as we walked around the beautiful olive trees on the property and later left them hanging in the branches. We also offered wine and bread and fruit, meditated, chanted and danced. Michael Tomulty initiated the music on his mandolin. Peter Sailer's daughter and grand-daughters and Victor's daughter and grand-son were also there, adding the power of the future generations to our endeavors. It felt truly positive and gave us great hope that so many good people are eager to see the building completed and be part of the yoga, creativity and healing that it will offer.
As soon as we have more news we shall let you know. In the meantime - please hold our land and yoga Hall project in your hearts.

Thank you and much love,
Angela and Victor
